PierPass / TMF Information

In 2005, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were mandated to increase their hours of service to the trucking community.  To insure participation during the “night gate” hours of 6:00 P.M. to 2:30 A.M., a TMF (Traffic Mitigation Fee) was introduced for all loaded containers being picked up or delivered to the two ports.
PierPass Inc. processes all of the TMF’s for both ports.  The current applied charge is $50.00 for each 20′ container load, and $100.00 for each 40′ container load.  These fees must be paid to PierPass, and show in the terminal system at the port before pick up during “peak hours” or daytime hours of 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
If the load is picked up or delivered during the “off peak” or “night gate” hours, no TMF applies, however Tricon does charge a fee of $60.00 for pick up / delivery of loads during off peak hours.
TMF’s can be paid to PierPass by the shipper (or any company that has an account with PierPass) or by Tricon Transportation, Inc.  An $8.00 service fee will apply to each TMF paid by Tricon.
